Medicinal Garden

In 2001, LoCOS cooperated to develop a medicinal garden named ‘Zinia Medicinal Garden’. It became renown with the effort of Naznin Akhter Nipa. The medicinal garden was situated in Katianangla under Batiaghata Upazila. There are 2488 species featured plants are available. Some of the plants are- pineapple, hydrangea, basil, neem, tulsi, asparagus and aloe, Indian snakeroot, devil’s cotton, devil’s trumpet, skunkvine etc.
LoCOS works on Medicinal garden to increase community knowledge about disease prevention and cure using herbs. Her medicinal garden is the 2nd highest garden in Bangladesh. Medicinal plant enthusiasts and practitioners come to collect medicinal ingredients from this garden. Inspired by this initiative, people in the locality become interested to establish herbal gardens. Khulna Unani Medical College use this garden for practical session of their students because ingredients were increasingly difficult to source.
